Basic Team Rules
1. Be positive at all times
2. Come to all of the practices, be positive throughout the practice and give it your best effort all the time. Everyone on the team must be dressed and ready to work out every day, including athletes who are injured or are sick and at school. Alternate workouts will be available for injured athletes – the coaching staff will never require any athlete to risk further injury in any way. Remember, every coach knows the difference between a real injury and a not-so real injury. So, please report any true injury at once to one of the coaches.
3. Buy into the concept of compartmentization (this may be a new word). This means that the athlete must be totally dedicated to the Track & Field workout from start to finish and not distracted by anything else (cell phones, radios, CDs, etc.)
4. Make sure that all of the necessary paperwork (including the doctor physical) is complete and turned into the athletic department before the season begins. You will not be eligible to participate in Track & Field until this is accomplished.
5. Wear the proper workout clothing. Always dress out and be ready for the workout --- do not report to the practice dressed in street clothes. Make sure you have running shoes to protect your feet and legs. Make sure that you have track spikes for track training and meets. Not dressing out will result in team suspension and a failing grade in the class.
6. All workouts are mandatory, even workouts scheduled on Saturdays, holidays and days off. Not showing up without official permission will result in team suspension and a failing grade in the class.
7. Each workout during the week at Beckman starts at 1:35 PM and ends at approximately 4:00 PM. Every athlete is required to be at the workout from start to finish. Please schedule doctor, dental and any other appointment after 4:00 PM. Not completing every workout until the coaching staff dismisses the athletes will result in team suspension and a failing grade in the class.
8. Make sure that you keep your grades at the highest level that you can. Remember that the prime reason you are at Beckman is to get the best education you can. We would not like you to be ineligible and miss any or all of this fine season because of grades. Study hard!
